Omega Inflammation Information
To reduce inflammation you need to know your Omegas. There are omega-6 fatty acids that cause inflammation, while omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation. Omega-9 fatty acids (like oleic acid found in olive oil) have no effect on inflammation. Only long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) have anti-inflammatory effects. The short chain omega-3 fatty acids found in flaxseed oil have no anti-inflammatory benefits. Keep in mind, the amount of omega-3 fatty acids necessary to see a benefit is more than can be found in typical food products. Supplements are necessary.
