Free Movie Screening Celebrates International Women's Day

A screening of RBG will be held on Friday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Majestic 11, in honor of International Women’s Day (IWD). For the second year, this free movie screening will be hosted by Friends After Diagnosis, a support organization serving women with cancer. No tickets are required, seating is first-come, first-seated in the 165-seat theater.

RBG explores the life and career of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Although Justice Ginsburg has developed a lengthy legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon, the story of her rise to the nation's highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans – until now. The documentary premiered during the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

“Friends After Diagnosis is excited to be offering this free event again. RBG is a powerful and insightful film and is especially timely with its themes of social justice and equality for all,” said Friends After Diagnosis board member and event coordinator Suzy Stoeckel.

Newly-elected Indian River County Court Judge Nicole P. Menz will open the film with remarks about the impact of women in law. Judge Menz has been Assistant State Attorney, County Court Supervisor as well as the Circuit Court Supervisor and was elected the county's first female judge in 2018.

Location: Majestic 11, 940 14th Lane, Vero Beach. For more information, visit FriendsAfterDiagnosis.com.
