Turtle Krawl 5K Supports Sea Turtle Conservation
The Turtle Krawl 5K Walk/Run returns September 12 to raise funds for sea turtle conservation and education programs throughout Brevard County. Hosted by the Sea Turtle Preservation Society at James H. Nance Park in Indialantic the event begins at 7:30 a.m. and also offers a virtual race option.
The Sea Turtle Preservation Society has protected sea turtles and their habitat in Brevard County for more than 35 years. “All race proceeds benefit the Sea Turtle Preservation Society’s mission to help sea turtles survive” the organization states. Past Turtle Krawl proceeds have supported rescue and transport of injured sea turtles as well as nesting surveys and educational outreach. Funds have also helped purchase satellite transmitters for UCF marine turtle research and supported Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center.
The family-friendly event includes a free Kids Fun Dash after the 5K. The first 2,000 registrants receive finisher medals and race shirts featuring original artwork by local artist Michael “Nemo” Nemnich.
For more information and to register, visit TurtleKrawl.com. Register by September 9 for virtual participation. The Turtle Krawl 5K is located at James H. Nance Park, Indialantic. Cost: $45; $40 for ages 0 to 12 when registered by September 9.
