Massage therapists across the Space Coast can now earn license renewal hours closer to home through the new Deep Tissue Spa Academy.

Created by The The Deep Tissue Spa, a clinical therapeutic massage practice in Melbourne, the Academy offers continuing education for Florida-licensed massage therapists. As an approved CE Broker provider, it combines hands-on instruction with convenient online coursework.

Its in-person Intro to Spa Modalities course provides 12 hands-on hours and covers hot stone massage, cupping, CBD, scrubs, gua sha and other techniques designed to enhance client experience. Online options include Aromatherapy for the Massage Practice, along with Florida-required courses in laws and rules, ethics, medical errors and human trafficking awareness. Courses in deep tissue massage, TMJ work and lymphatic drainage are planned for fall.

The Academy grew from the spa’s internal training program. Over seven years, owner and LMT, Carly Gallagher expanded The Deep Tissue Spa from a solo practice to a team of more than 15 therapists while developing coursework to support staff education.

“We were already building this for our own team,” says Gallagher. “The Academy just opens the door to everyone else.”
