Certified Organic Shadowood Farm Sells Produce Straight to the Public in Palm City

Shadowood Farm of Palm City is devoted to teaching people how to grow and harvest their own organic food, while also selling farm fresh produce, flowers, herbs and organic gardening supplies to the public. This family run, ten-acre, agroforestry farm is solar-powered and began growing vegetables, herbs, and fruits in 2010.

As part of the USDA National Organic Program and after years of growing food using organic practices, on October 10th, 2018, Shadowood Farm officially became Certified Organic. “We are one of only two USDA Certified Organic farms in Martin County and the only certified farm that sells to the public. The other farm grows sugar cane.”says Sarah Fenton.

“Understanding the true spirit of organic farming lies with protecting and regenerating the farm’s soil,” expresses Fenton. In July of 2020, Shadowood also became certified by the Real Organic Project, a proactive organization that is fighting the USDA to do a better job of protecting the organic food system, including the soil where our organic produce is being grown.
