Going Deeper with Chronic Allergies

Apr 01, 2019 10:29PM ● By Dr. Brian Walsh

Seasonal allergies can range from mild and annoying to frustratingly debilitating.  Why is it that some people have no reaction at all but for others, spring and fall allergy seasons become a dreaded time of year? There are three main areas that need further investigation in the case of chronic allergies: 1) thyroid/adrenal function, 2) the gut, and 3) the liver.

People with low thyroid and adrenal function are more susceptible to allergies because of their influence on the immune system. An imbalance of the good and bad bacteria in the gut called dysbiosis makes the body more reactive to not only foods but environmental allergies as well.  And lastly, the liver not only detoxifies the body but is also part of the histamine response in allergic reactions. A sluggish liver will not respond properly to an allergen of any kind.

What factors are causing the above systems to fail?  Consuming foods the body is sensitive to, exposure to environmental toxins, subclinical infections such as candida, parasites and viruses and chronic stress are some of the major reasons that chronic allergies are so common. A Nutrition Response Testing evaluation identifies these root causes. The Whole30 diet, homeopathic allergy remedies, systemic enzymes and a good liver cleanse can go a long way in reducing or eliminating the symptoms related to seasonal allergies.

Dr. Brian Walsh, Chiropractic Physician and owner of CARE Natural Wellness Center, uses Nutrition Response Testing to analyze individuals to determine the underlying cause of allergies and other health issues. For more information, call 321-728-1387 or visit
