Promise Walk for Preeclampsia at Cocoa Riverfront Park

Apr 01, 2019 09:48PM

Advocates for the Preeclampsia Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing maternal and infant illness and death due to preeclampsia, a life-threatening disorder of pregnancy related to high blood pressure, will sponsor its annual Promise Walk for Preeclampsia. The annual event, which happens around the country to support innovative research and raise public awareness about the warning signs of preeclampsia, will take place at Cocoa Riverfront Park on Saturday, June 1, with registration at 8:30 am.

“May is National Preeclampsia Awareness Month, deliberately chosen to coincide with Mother’s Day weekend,” explained Eleni Tsigas, Chief Executive Officer of the Preeclampsia Foundation. “Preeclampsia affects one of every 12 pregnancies in the U.S. and takes the lives of approximately 76,000 moms and 500,000 babies worldwide every year. We know awareness of symptoms saves lives so that’s our ongoing goal.”

Pre-registration is encouraged but walk-up registrations will also be accepted on the day of the event. To register, visit
