Treasure Coast Quakers Welcome Newcomers

The Treasure Coast Quakers invite you to join them for worship on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. at the Port St. Lucie Community Center. The Quakers are a worship group of the Religious Society of Friends.

“You are welcome to join us as you are,” says Joel Cook. “Dress as you feel comfortable. We believe that every person is loved by the Divine Spirit.” There are Quakers of all ages, races, education levels, sexual orientations, gender identities, religious backgrounds, and classes.

Worship begins when the group is seated and quiet. No clergyman or minister presides and there is no set form or program. The Meeting for Worship is based on silence broken only by brief messages from those who feel moved to share with the meeting the inspiration and knowledge of the will of God that rises out of meditation and prayer. “In the practice of silent waiting we find our spirits come more easily into fellowship with the Divine Spirit,” says Cook. “As we wait in silence we become conscious also of fellowship with other worshipers. Every individual participation enriches the fellowship whether the person is silent or speaks.”

Location: Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd., Port St. Lucie. For more information, call 772-267-9156 or visit TCQuakers.org
