Winter Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR)
“As countless people have discovered over the past 25 years, mindfulness is the most reliable source of peace and joy. Anyone can do it,” says the famous Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh.
Beginning Saturday, January 24th, MBSR Instructor Al Rapaport will be leading an eight-week course in Melbourne. The program consists of eight weekly 3-hour classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and a one-day retreat between the sixth and seventh sessions on Sunday, March 1st.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, originally developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, is now employed in hospital, business and community settings all over the world. It can enhance participant’s abilities to relax, reduce anger, decrease anxiety, cope with chronic pain, find balance, clarity and stability, and live in the moment.
The sessions will provide participants with guided instruction in non-sectarian mindful meditation practices, gentle stretching, group dialogue and mindful communication exercises. All attendees will receive home practice materials, including CDs and a workbook.
Location for the series will be Open Mind Zen Center, 878 Sarno Rd, Melbourne.
