Homeopathy Remedies for Kids

Sep 27, 2013 07:20PM ● By Dr. Jennifer Southard

More parents are turning to a more natural approach when it comes to raising their families. While there are a wide range of therapies to choose when addressing illness and focusing on prevention, the magic of classical homeopathy is often over looked, misunderstood, or simply discredited.

Homeopathy is a distinct system of medicine that stands all on its own. It is based on the “law of similar”, which means a disease can be cured by a substance that will produce the same or similar symptoms of the disease in a healthy person. These minute doses of medicine stimulate the body, through its own innate healing abilities, to regain balance and restore health. Homeopathy can be used to address long lasting “chronic” conditions as well as self-limiting “acute” conditions.

Here are some examples of situations where homeopathy can be used. This does not replace a proper medical workup.

Arnica: Indicated for trauma of any kind, including surgery. Has affinity for trauma to the head, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. It can be used for contusions, bruising, muscles soreness, pains, and after surgery. Arnica is indicated for physical shock of any kind. A go-to remedy for any trauma.

Chamomilla: A must have for the teething years. Indicated when child is cranky, whining, and seems to be in pain while teething. Child is restless and is better being carried slowly. The pains are worse at night and cause the child to wake up frequently. The child can be extremely capricious and might have one cheek red the other white and is worse being looked at.

Ignatia: Indicated for mental trauma or shock of any kind. Often used with news of death, divorce, breakups, any shocking news. It’s indicated when there is changeable mood, insomnia, and frequent sighing that often accompanies the shock of any news.

You can dose 3 pellets of a 30C or 200C potency of the indicated remedy as often as needed to relieve symptoms. If the indicated remedy does not seem to work or has stopped working, it’s suggested that you turn to a properly trained classic homeopathic practitioner.
