Energize Your Walk

Walking is the king among exercises due to its simplicity. It activates your lymphatic system, a major part of your immune system, and brings life-enhancing oxygen to every cell. It affects and improves all eight of the body’s systems: respiratory, circulatory, skeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, immune, digestive, and the glandular/meridian/energy system.
Add to this, meditation, acupuncture without needles, and massage therapy and you have walking Qi-gong. This low cost health care system can be practiced with friends or alone for profound healing to benefit mind, emotions and body systems. Walking Qi-gong is gaining popularity in community centers, church groups and special populations (e.g., asthma, arthritis, and cancer patients) in the United States. A beginner student can easily learn the breathing, arm, hand swinging patterns, and palm positions (mudras) in the first walking Qi-gong class. The student may also work the first palm patterns for three to six months to enjoy the health benefits and to "feel" the exercise. As the student progresses, the six basic healing sounds of Qi-gong can be added to enhance the health benefits, which would include emotional purging or purging negative (toxic) emotions .
There are literally hundreds of walking Qi-gong styles and art forms. It is one of the most practiced forms among cancer recovery clubs in China. Some methods can even be practiced by those who are physically handicapped or bedridden. Walking Qi-gong is perfect for ages 5 to 125.
