It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a Superhero Runner!! Friends of Children of Brevard (Friends) invites runners and walkers of all ages to sign up for the 5K Run and/or 1 mile Fun Run event on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at The Avenue Viera. The 10th Annual Superhero Run, sponsored by Friends, benefits local children who are abused, abandoned, and/or neglected. All participants will receive a race shirt, finisher medal, and goodie bag. Join in the fun while supporting a great cause. Dress up as your favorite superhero to dash through the racecourse at your speed, watch costumed mascots race in the Mascot Sprint, and cheer on the youngsters in the free Kids’ Run! Following the races, there will be a DJ spinning tunes, complimentary food and drinks, family-friendly activities, and an awards ceremony for individual and team race winners and costume contest winners. April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. In addition to race activities, you can help Friends “Sock it to Child Abuse” by donating new boys and girls socks at the event, ordering from the Amazon Wishlist, or making a monetary donation. Kathy Heron, Superhero Run Chairperson, said, “Each year at the race I get approached by at least one person who is moved by our mission and tells me that they were abused as a child themselves. I feel strongly that the entire community needs to support these kids.
