Artisans and vendors from many parts of the country bring their best wares to this show each year. There is handcrafted jewelry created from beads, rocks, silver, copper, and more. There will be rock slabs, cabochons (flat-backed) and faceted gemstones from around the globe. Sign up for a class (only $5) and make a piece of jewelry that you will be proud to wear home. Club members will also demonstrate a variety of techniques, including bead weaving, faceting (turning a bit of rock into a sparkling gem), creating cabochons, wire wrapping and weaving, and chain maille. Attendees who want to learn the skills will have the opportunity to join the St. Lucie County Rock and Gem Club, which offers many different classes to its members. Anyone wanting to join the club can take advantage of the show special and for $40 get 14 months for the price of 12. Additional highlights include raffles for jewelry custom-made by club artisans and hourly drawings for items contributed by the vendors, as well as a silent auction with numerous unique items donated by club members such as jewelry, beads, stones, books, and equipment. Children are always welcome with a special area where they can learn about rock and gemstone identification and make their own jewelry.
