Laser Therapy in Veterinary Medicine
May 26, 2012 12:37PM
Coastal Animal Hospital and Wellness Center introduces laser therapy as a treatment modality for advanced pain relief. The patient does not need sedation or restraint and the treatment is usually pleasant. Improvement is often noticed after the first visit, but most patients require three to eight treatments for the greatest benefit. The treatments are cumulative in nature.
Laser therapy is pain free. The laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area creating an optimal healing environment. This results in reduced inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain.
The most common conditions treated are arthritis, musculoskeletal pain and spinal injuries. Other conditions that benefit include inflammation of the ear, urinary bladder, anal glands and sinuses. Also treatment of hot spots, lick granulomas, bug bites, burns, surgical incisions and tooth extraction sites are very successful.
In addition to being a full-service veterinary hospital, the Center also offers chiropractic, acupuncture, clinical nutrition and raw food diets, homeopathy and I-therm.
